Learning how to smoke for the first time at age 40
When I began my journey of learning how to smoke, my first decision had to be what type of cigar I should smoke. My father smoked El Producto Queens, and his father smoked White Owl. I wanted to smoke something different.
My reason to start smoking at such a late age was that I wanted to be cool. I also wanted to fit in. My friend Alex and the guys we hung out with at the clubs all smoked. After a time of thrashing the idea around in my head, I settled with small cigars like Clint Eastwood. No one could be more cool than Clint.
Some guys select big cigars because they think bigger is better. Those are usually the same guys who have big tires on their jacked-up pickup trucks. I didn’t need that. I wasn’t a size queen who needed to psychologically compensate for my lack of masculinity as a result of a small male member. I was confident with my endowment and didn’t need a surrogate penis in my mouth.
Confident men like Clint Eastwood smoke small cigars.
Men who feel inadequate in their masculinity smoke large cigars.
Ouch, that’s enough about that.
After much consideration, I chose Swisher Sweets. They make a mini-cigar and also a cigar the size of a cigarette, which are also sold in packs. In the clubs, no one is allowed to smoke cigars, as some people would make them into marijuana-filled blunts. With Swisher Sweets, I could smoke the cigarette-sized ones in the clubs and the mini-cigars outside and other places.
These were the Sweets I smoked in the clubs. Back then, smoking was allowed in bars. Today, it is illegal. I find no pleasure now drinking without smoking.
These Sweets are sold in packs, just like cigarettes. They are wrapped in brown paper and are the same size as cigarettes, and can’t be made into blunts. Thus, they were allowed in bars and clubs.
I sometimes smoke Backwoods, which are all tobacco and wrapped with a tobacco leaf.
However, I enjoy the sweet aroma of Swisher Sweets more.
Sweets come in a variety of flavors. I stayed with the original Classic aroma.
I would never smoke grapes. I dislike grape-flavored everything, especially drinks because I know they are artificial and fake, not flavored with grapes at all.
A hallowed-out cigar with marijuana placed in it is a blunt.
All clubs in Milwaukee that I went to didn’t allow cigar smoking. Too often, guys would sneak in a blunt and try to pass it off as a cigar.
Snoop Dogg smoking a blunt. He is well known for indulging daily.
These Sweets are wrapped in tobacco leaves, as opposed to paper wrapped like the cigarette style ones.
I would smoke these Sweets outside of the clubs.
My grandfather’s favorite cigars were White Owls and Dutch Masters.
His grandchildren often gave him boxes of them for presents.
My favorite type of Sweets are the wood tips. In some way they remind me of my grandfather Ralph.
He smoked cigars and was a carpenter. He worked into his 80s and I often helped him.
I still can remember the smell of fresh cut pine and its aroma brings back fond memories of my grandfather.
Smoking a cigar with a wood tip in my mouth brings me happy memories.
My dad’s favorite cigars were El Producto Queens sold in glass tubes.
I found a half-filled box of his cigars after he died. I haven’t smoked any yet.
Comedian and movie star George Burns smoked El Producto cigars exclusively. They stayed lit and never needed relighting while he talked during his stand-up routines, which is why he chose and endorsed them.
His relationship with El Producto continued throughout his life, and he regularly received free cigars even after his public endorsement ended.
