My Strange Fascination with Homophones

I write what I write. Is that right? I make a rite out of it when I’m writing. I’m trying to be a word wright.

Sometimes they pop into my head, and I have to write them down right away.

Did those two go to the new zoo too?

I love the correct use of homophones. Although, I tend to forgive some grammatical errors and spelling mistakes, since I am not perfect myself. However, certain homophone infractions irritate me.

The words to, too, and two, as well as your and you’re were taught to children in second grade. They should have been mastered by fifth grade.

I used to teach second grade. In my memory, I picture that goof-off kid who didn’t learn these things back then. I try to not allow that thought to influence my opinion of adults that I see making those errors today.

I try, but sometimes it can be difficult.
