What happened to gear shift knobs? The push-button car!

The above photo is me “shifting” the gears on a rental car. This was my first experience driving a knobless car.

Although I prefer the now almost extinct manual transmission, even automatic transmissions still use a gear shift knob, until now!

I have never been in a pushbutton car prior to this.

If cars are now pushbutton, why aren’t they flying like on The Jetsons?

Everything on The Jetsons was pushbutton. Everything, that is, that wasn’t voice-activated.

My old friend, the 5 on the floor, is almost a thing of the past.

I miss the stick shift of my Ford Ranger.

I had the best of times in that truck.

The 2000 Ford Ranger.

Mine was similar to this model: the extended cab, seating for five with two jump seats in the back of the cab.

“On the Road Again”

Sing it, Willie!

On the road again
Like a band of gypsies, we go down the highway
We’re the best of friends
Insisting that the world keep turnin’ our way, and our way

I miss my old friend, my stick shift pickup truck!
