Here is another song that is not holly and jolly. Coming at a pivotal part of the movie Meet Me in St. Louis, the melody and harmony differ from the “merry” words of the lyrics, making a perfect combination of contrasts and contradictions.
No one other than Judy Garland could give the emotion necessary when singing this song.
